Serengeti. A Form Two student at Mugumu Secondary School, David Geoffrey, 17, has been admitted to Nyerere-Designated District Hospital, suffering from an electrical shock.

David, who lives at Kisangura Village, told The Citizen on Monday, April 29, 2019, that the incident occurred on Sunday, April 28, 2019 at 2pm, while cutting down a tree, which fell on a live electrical wire.

According to him, electricity passed to the machete he was holding whose handle was partly bare, suffering the shock.

He said he was surprised to see himself lying on the ground, which was wet.

"Fortunately, the tree had completely fallen down, detaching itself the cable. Otherwise I would have been dead,” he said.

A nurse in charge at the hospital, Mr John Nyang'ombe, said David sustained serious injuries in his hands and feet.

However, he hopes he will recover soon.
