Passengers injured after bus veers off the road

Dar es Salaam. Police in Tanga have said 18 passengers have survived on Sunday, May 05, 2019, after Kilimanjaro Express bus plying between Arusha and Dar es Salaam veered off the road and overturned.

Tanga Regional Police Commander, Edward Bukombe said the accident occurred at 3:20pm in Tengwe Village in Mkata Ward along the Segera-Chalinze highway.

He said survivors have been taken to Mkata health centre and others were rushed to the Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH) for specialized treatment.

“Among the 18 survivors, three are men and 15 women. Nine survivors have sustained serious injuries while the remaining six got minor injuries. We couldn’t immediately get names of survivors of the accident,” he said, adding.

He added that No death has been reported in the accident. However, the Regional Transport Officer (RTO) has arrived at the scene as police in the region has launched investigation.”
