Get prepared for heavy rains, TMA cautions

  • The Tanzania Meteorological Agency (TMA) has issued a five-day caution on heavy rainfall that will affect Rukwa, Mbeya, Iringa, Njombe, Songwe, Ruvuma, Lindi, Mtwara, South of Morogoro, Dar es Salaam, Tanga, Pwani and islands of Unguja and Pemba.

Dar es Salaam. The Tanzania Meteorological Agency (TMA) has issued a five day caution on heavy rainfall that may come with diverse effects such as floods in different part of the country.

The heavy rainfall is expected in areas including Rukwa, Mbeya, Iringa, Njombe, Songwe, Ruvuma, Lindi, Mtwara, South of Morogoro, Dar es Salaam, Tanga, Pwani and islands of Unguja and Pemba.

The agency says heavy rainfall is expected to start today March 29 until April 2, 2019 and this will result into floods which might destroy property, delayed transport services as well as putting a halt to business and economic activities.

According to TMA rain is also expected in Rukwa, Mbeya, Iringa, Njombe, Songwe, Ruvuma, Lindi, Mtwara and southern parts of Morogoro.

The agency has further reported that April 1 to 2  this year, the heavy rainfall will be experienced in Rukwa, Mbeya, Iringa, Njombe, Songwe, Ruvuma,   Lindi, Mtwara, Southern Morogoro, Dar es Salaam,Tanga, Coast and on the Island of Unguja and Pemba.

TMA has adviseed management of disaster control, emergency services and other stakeholders to take necessary measures and put in place a plan that will ensure quick response in case of any disaster.
