German football instructors impressed by young talent

Dar es Salaam. German soccer instructors have been impressed by young talented football players during their second day of the clinic taking place at the Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete (JMK) Park in Dar es Salaam Region.

The clinic is the results of the good cooperation and partnership between Magnet Youth Sports Organization and German Leipzig University which has enabled to bring to life a football project under the ITK Program known as ITK Pathfinder Project for 2019.

A total of 120 young football players along with 25 football coaches are currently undergoing intensive training as the clinic will end on February 14.

RB Leipzig striker Yussuf Poulsen is supporting the project which aims to take the country’s football to the next level. Poulsen is the patron of the project.

Speaking yesterday, football expert Martin Hammel said they had seen potential in football talent in the country and believed, if developed, the country would advance in the game.

Magnet Youth Sports Organization Managing Director Tuntufye Mwambusi said discussions for the project started way back in 2017 at Leipzig University in Germany.

He said they the aim of the project was to transfer knowledge from German football experts to Tanzania’s coaches.

“We are very happy to have two football experts, Andreas Pach and Martin Hammel, to conduct this intensive training for both coaches and kids with their interpreter Ms. Veronika Kral. it is a great achievement in our country,” said Mwambusi

He said during the course they would also visit three schools where pupils will have the rare opportunity to experience modern football from the football experts. Over the years ITK Program has been providing sponsorship to Tanzanians and other countries around the globe.

“During their time here, they will visit the University of Dar es Salaam’s sports faculty including meeting officials of the Tanzania Football Federation and the National Sports Council about youth training programs,” said Mwambusi.

“Our special thanks go to Hon Minister for Sports Dr Harrisson Mwakyembe and his team, National Sports Council, TFF, Immigration office, Co-Host DRFA, German Embassy, Denmark Embassy of Denmark and to our sponsors NMB, Coca Cola through Dasani Water, Magnet Youth Sports Org parents and TTB,”  he said.
