Tanzania’s former Home Affairs Minister cheats death in car crash

Dodoma. Former Home Affairs Minister, Dr Mwigulu Nchemba, cheated death earlier today (Wednesday, February 13, 2019), when the vehicle he was travelling in crashed at Migori area in Iringa.

Dr Nchemba, who is Member of Parliament (MP) for Iramba West (CCM) was travelling from Iringa to Dodoma, when his vehicle crashed at Migori, the Dodoma Regional Police Commander, Mr Gilles Murotto confirmed to The Citizen on Wednesday.

Pictures, showing Dr Mwigulu’s crashed vehicle, went viral in social media on Wednesday, showing that it (the vehicle) was seriously damaged on the passenger side of it (the vehicle) where Dr Mwigulu sat.

Dr Mwigulu Nchemba was rushed to Benjamin Mkapa Hospital in Dodoma.

The Citizen visited the Benjamin Mkapa Hospital premises on Wednesday and witnessed Dr Mwigulu undergoing some medical checkups. 

The Benjamin Mkapa Hosital director, Dr Alphonce Chandika said Dr Mwigulu was received at the hospital at 9:30am.

“When he came, he was complaining of some pains on his hip and right leg. We have conducted some tests using various machines including CT Scan,” he said.
