Power cuts in Kigamboni to end December 2019, says District Commissioner

District Commissioner of Kigamboni Ms Sarah Msafiri said that power-cuts will come to an end in December 2019.

Dar es Salaam. Power cuts in Kigamboni will be a thing of the past in Kigamboni district following the installation of a power plant with the capacity of generating 48MW.

Speaking during the launch of gas warehouse and machines for Taifa Gas Company on Tuesday June 25 in Kigamboni District, the DC Ms Sarah Msafiri said the Sh29 billion power plant has recently been complemented and the engineers are currently connecting 7460 apartments for selling at Dege Eco Village.

“Power-cuts has been a nightmare for business operators and domestic users for so long,” she said.

“…since the project of generating 48MW has been completed, I am positive that until December this year, the problem will be thing of the past,” she noted.

According to her, before the completion 48MW power plant, there was only 12MW which supplied the district.

In another development, Ms Msafiri said that the government has set Sh90 billion during the 2019/20 financial year for construction a main road which connect several streets and key industrial areas.
