I need to focus, my friends are distracting
What you need to know:
- It is good that you have realised this quite early enough though you don’t mention how long you have known these buddies of yours.
You seem to be a good student and really want to kick-it-into-gear now with your studies. However, you have this friend who you can’t stop talking to and you sort of find him very distracting.
It is good that you have realised this quite early enough though you don’t mention how long you have known these buddies of yours.
First and foremost it is important for you to define your purpose in school, this way you will be able to avoid negative influences by staying away from these friends.
This may be mean, and if this is a friend he should understand that you might have to ignore him a little bit for you to achieve your purpose.
During class, don’t talk to them and don’t look at them. The only possibility where you could talk to them is if they ask you a question about school.
Remember, this is your future and you are in charge of it. This is one person that is stopping you from reaching your goal. You just cannot let this happen forever.
Being busy can help you a lot. If you are more preoccupied with yourself, then you will worry about yourself more than your friend. Take preemptive measures, like telling your teacher that your friend is a distraction.
Remember this: School is for learning, it is about your future. After school when you are done with your homework and school stuff and are hanging out with your friends, that is the time to have fun with your friend.
It also important that you get an organizer that will remind you of the things that you are required to do during the day, this will help you to stay focused.
Try talking to them about it in the nicest way possible. They should generally respect your word. Explain that you need to concentrate in class, but also remind them that you are still their friend and there is a time and place for everything.
If they are your true friends who understand you and know what is best for you they will try to help you achieve your goals. Who knows they might even be inspired by you to take their school work more seriously as well instead of being left behind. Good luck
