The rapper is also contesting for a parliamentary seat

Bongo Flava’s veteran rapper Professor Jay, real name Joseph Haule, has finally confirmed that he will be running for office this October during Tanzania’s General Elections. The rapper is contesting for a parliamentary seat in Mikumi Constituency on a Chadema Party ticket.

He had shown interest but finally confirmed early last week when he was given the certificate clearing him to start his campaigns.

He is not the first musician to run for office in Tanzania as another veteran rapper Mr Sugu, has been the MP for Mbeya for the last five years. Other celebrities contesting in this year’s elections include former model Wema Sepetu and Wanaume TMK’s manager Said Fella.

“I’m now praying that we shall have smooth campaigns and I will make it to parliament,” said Profesa Jay on Friday, through his social media pages.
