The final exams started on Wednesday this week and the first paper was Mathematics, which was followed by Kiswahili and Science subjects. On the second and last day of exams, Thursday, the Standard Seven leavers wrote English and Social Studies exams.
It was a joyful day on Thursday when Standard Seven pupils finished their final exams. They danced and cheered as they came out of the examination rooms, hugging each other ready to start a new chapter of their education life next year.
The final exams started on Wednesday this week and the first paper was Mathematics, which was followed by Kiswahili and Science subjects. On the second and last day of exams, Thursday, the Standard Seven leavers wrote English and Social Studies exams.
Young Citizen spoke to a number of pupils to find out about the exams and how they were planning to spend the long vacation till next year when they will be joining secondary school.
Rahma Issa, from Kibangu English Medium said the examination was good and that she was looking forward to receiving positive results.
“The examination was good. I played my part and I believe God is good, I will pass with flying colours because the exam questions came from all the areas we were taught in class,” said a hopeful Rahma.
On how she plans to spend time before starting secondary school next year, Rahma says she has two things in mind. First, she will be travelling to see her grandparents in Kilimanjaro region and when she comes back, she will enrol for computer and English courses.
“My parents have already started looking for a computer school for me because my dream is to become a computer expert after university,” said Rahma.
Maria Michael from Kibangu Primary School said she was happy to finish school and that she was eagerly waiting for the examination results. She hopes to continue with secondary school studies next year.
“I have a long holiday before starting secondary school so I’m going to do an English course and spend the rest of the time at home helping my sister with house chores,” Maria said.
For Geofrey Mtatifikolo, from Mabibo Primary School, he will spend the three months at home. However, he will also be visiting the Jakaya Kikwete Youth Park for sport training.
“It is a good time for me and other pupils who used to get sport training at JK grounds for we will be able to participate in different sports,” Geoffrey who wants to be a professional footballer said.
Madeleine Otieno from Atlas Pre and Primary school has a different schedule. She will be travelling upcountry for Form One interviews.
“My mother bought three forms for different schools so we will travel to Kilimanjaro, Mbeya and Bagamoyo where I will sit for Form One entry exams. I hope one of the schools will be my new school next year,” she said.
