Diamond and Zuchu nominated for the 2023 Trace awards

Bongo Flava heavyweights Diamond Platnumz and Zuchu have continued to hoist the Tanzanian flag after the duo secured nominations at the 2023 Trace Awards and Festival.

Zuchu, renowned for her hit track Naringa, and Diamond Platnumz, both under the WCB Wasafi label, have bagged nominations for the upcoming award ceremony scheduled to take place in Rwanda from October 20 to 22.

As the sole representatives from Tanzania in this year's Trace Awards and Festival, Zuchu and Diamond Platnumz find themselves in a fierce showdown for the coveted title of Best Eastern Africa Artist of the Year.

Their competition includes Uganda's Azawi, Rwanda's Bruce Melodie, as well as Kenya's formidable contenders Nadia Mukami and Khaligraph Jones.

This recent nomination is yet another testament to Diamond Platnumz's consistent presence on the international award scene.

In 2023 alone, he has won two continental accolades - the Headies and AFRIMMA - securing titles for Best Eastern Africa Artist and Best Male East Africa respectively.

Meanwhile, Zuchu has enjoyed a remarkable year of her own, etching her name in history as the most decorated female artist in a single evening at the esteemed Tanzanian Music Awards held in April.

Her astounding feat included scooping up an impressive total of five awards, notably earning the titles of Best Female and Best Music Video.
