14 cattle killed by lion in Serengeti

Villagers in Serengeti are fearful about a lion that has been attacking livestock at night.

Serengeti. At least 14 cattle are reportedly to have been killed by a lion at Nyichoka and Bokore villages in Serengeti District.

Nyichoka Village chairman Emmanuel Nyangaka confirmed the story.

He at least 7 cattle mauled by a lion between January 6 and 8 belonged to Mr Mosende Mwita, a resident of Songambele.

He said such incidents had triggered fears among villagers. “Lions have been lately attacking livestock at night.”
District game ranger John Lendoyan confirmed to have received the villagers’ complaints. “I plan to survey the areas.”
