Although the former Chadema general secretary is leaving the country at a crucial time, he promises to return in October to cast his vote.

Former Chama cha Maendeleo na Demokrasia (Chadema) General Secretary Willbrod Slaa says he and his family are taking a  sabbatical leave to the United States where he expects to attend various short courses including law and language.
According to an interview aired on Azam Television this morning, the one time Karatu Member of Parliament said his house will be left under police security.
However, the available information has it that the outspoken politician and his family had already left the country to  the US since Monday evening.
“I’m threatened, I must be cautious…I recieve threats that I will  be stoned. It’s true that I’m under the country’s security,” said Dr. Slaa in an interview with veteran journalist Tido Mhando.
Speaking on the expenses incurred in his press at the five Star Serena Hotel in Dar es Salaam, the retired politician recalled his USA tour and said, “In the  US, I visited 13 states and I was not financed by my party. And it is not my first time to sleep there (Serena Hotel). I wonder why people who are speaking about this. I have friends.”
He said while in his USA vacation, he will continue closely following the country’s politics and promised to return to the country 25th October to exercise his civic right of voting.
