Dar es Salaam. Jalaram Seva Mandal has provided free surgical treatment to 33 patients suffering from different diseases such as hydrocele, hernia, prostate enlargement in men, and fallopian tube blockages in women—a major cause of infertility.
The beneficiaries, from Morogoro, Dar es Salaam, and the Coast Region, had endured these conditions for years without the means to afford treatment.
Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Mr Mussa Azzan Zungu, commended the organisation for its continued support to low-income citizens.
“This is the 25th time I’ve handed over referral forms to patients being treated through this initiative,” said Mr Zungu during a ceremony to hand over medical supplies and a cheque to beneficiaries.
“Today, these individuals are being issued special forms enabling them to receive medical check-ups and undergo surgery free of charge,” he added.

He commended the initiative noting that it reflects the government’s efforts in improving health facilities across districts.
“I urge the public to embrace a spirit of giving. If you are blessed, share with others. Every act of generosity multiplies. That’s the principle this organisation lives by—and it’s why it has served the country for over 60 years,” said Mr Zungu.
Jalaram Seva Mandal director Kishor Modi said the organisation has long supported people with disabilities and patients suffering from conditions such as hernia, hydrocele, prostate issues, and blocked fallopian tubes.
“This round, we’ve received 33 patients, with treatment costs estimated at Sh40 million. Three months ago, we treated 37 patients for Sh51 million,” she said.
He urged individuals and well-wishers to support the initiative, noting that the costs are substantial and beneficiaries include women, men, and children.
One beneficiary, Mr Hasaan Maulid from Buguruni, Dar es Salaam, expressed his gratitude:
“I’ve lived with this condition for over 10 years. Financially, I couldn’t manage treatment. I thank the organisation for stepping in with such generosity.”
