Kilombero urges farmers to capitalize on K4 factory expansion

Dodoma. Kilombero Sugar Company participated in this year’s Nane Nane festival, held from August 1st to 8th in Dodoma and Morogoro regions. The company views the festival as a key opportunity to engage with farmers and the agricultural community, highlighting the benefits of the K4 Factory expansion.

The annual Nane Nane festival is a central platform for farmers, agricultural stakeholders, and the public to explore advancements in agriculture. Kilombero Sugar Company's involvement underscores its commitment to supporting and uplifting the local farming community.

The K4 factory expansion, set for completion by June 2025, will significantly enhance sugar production capacity. This expansion aims to meet the growing demand for sugar while creating numerous opportunities for local farmers. The increased capacity will allow Kilombero Sugar Company to source more sugarcane from farmers, boosting their incomes and contributing to regional economic development.

At a media briefing in Dodoma, Victor Byemelwa, Communications and Stakeholders Relations Manager for Kilombero Sugar Company, emphasized the importance of the initiative. “The Nane Nane festival is a crucial platform for us to connect with our farmers and the broader agricultural community. The K4 factory expansion represents a significant milestone for Kilombero Sugar Company and the local economy. We are dedicated to ensuring that farmers understand the opportunities available and how they can benefit from this project. By increasing our production capacity, we aim to support more farmers, enhance their incomes, and drive economic growth in Tanzania.”

During the festival, Kilombero Sugar Company showcased various aspects of the K4 factory expansion and provided detailed information on how farmers can leverage the new opportunities. The company also conducted educational sessions on best practices in sugarcane farming to boost productivity and sustainability.
