Dar es Salaam. More than 6,000 entrepreneurs from Tanzania and the United Kingdom have registered on a new digital platform that aims to strengthen trade, investment, education, tourism, and employment links between the two countries.

The Tanzania Link Portal is an initiative founded by three Tanzanians in the UK—Mr Goodluck Mboya, Mr Joseph Ndilla, and Ms Shivani Patel—with the aim of bridging gaps and facilitating access to cross-border opportunities for Tanzanians at home, those in the diaspora, and UK-based partners.

The portal was officially launched in April 2025 by the President of Zanzibar, Dr Hussein Ali Mwinyi, during a high-level event in London.

The launch was attended by prominent dignitaries including Tanzania’s High Commissioner to the UK, Ambassador Mbelwa Kairuki, the First Lady of Zanzibar, Mama Mariam Mwinyi, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr Cosato Chumi, former Prime Minister Mizengo Pinda, members of the Tanzanian diaspora, and development stakeholders from both countries.

Speaking during the launch, Tanzania Link’s Director of Business, Mr Joseph Ndilla, said the response since the platform went live has been overwhelmingly positive, with several entrepreneurs already engaged in preliminary talks around partnerships and investments aligned with domestic regulations.

“Through Tanzania Link, we are enabling entrepreneurs to explore opportunities in direct investments, joint ventures, international trade, and job placements across a range of sectors. We also provide credible information on academic scholarships and exchange programmes between Tanzania and the UK,” said Mr Ndilla.

He added that the platform provides legal guidance and business support services for investors, professionals, and start-ups. It also highlights tourism opportunities in mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar, aimed at attracting UK-based visitors keen on exploring or investing in the region.

On the technical front, Director of Technology, Mr Goodluck Mboya, said the platform is more than just a website—it is a strategic bridge that links people, ideas, and capital.

“Tanzania Link is a proudly Tanzanian-led initiative with a global vision. It represents a unified effort for Tanzanians around the world to access international prospects and aligns directly with the government’s economic diplomacy drive, championed by President Samia Suluhu Hassan,” he said.

Tanzania’s High Commissioner to the UK, Mbelwa Kairuki, affirmed the government’s support for the initiative, noting that the platform is in line with Tanzania’s broader strategy to strengthen economic diplomacy and international cooperation.

“The High Commission fully backs this initiative and will continue working with its founders to ensure its long-term success for the benefit of Tanzanians and their global partners,” he said.
