The event, held over the weekend and hosted by the Corporate and Investment Banking team, focused on exploring business opportunities, introducing new services and deepening clients’ understanding of the bank’s offerings.
Mwanza. The National Bank of Commerce (NBC) has moved to strengthen its presence in the Lake Zone with plans to establish a dedicated service desk for clients in the mining, agriculture and fisheries sectors.
The announcement was made during a dinner meeting in Mwanza on Sunday, September 14, 2025 where the bank hosted senior representatives from leading institutions and businesses. The gathering sought to expand business opportunities, present new banking solutions and collect feedback from clients on existing services.
NBC’s Director of Corporate Banking, Elvis Ndunguru, said the initiative underlined the bank’s commitment to supporting critical industries by deploying sector specialists. “This is part of our ongoing efforts to maintain regular dialogue with our clients, allowing us to continuously improve our services in alignment with their evolving needs,” he said.
He added that the new desk would provide tailored services ranging from loans and insurance to capacity-building support for enterprises operating in the Lake Zone. “As a pillar in the country’s financial sector, NBC recognises the need to offer superior services while nurturing strong client relationships. This is especially important in today’s rapidly evolving landscape driven by innovation and technology,” Mr Ndunguru noted.
Also addressing the event, NBC’s Head of Strategy, Msafiri Shayo, emphasised the bank’s wider strategy of fostering partnerships through innovation, advanced technology and social responsibility. The bank continues to support initiatives in education, health and environmental sustainability as part of its contribution to national development.
Clients present welcomed NBC’s expansion drive and praised its digital innovations, particularly the NBC Connect platform. Ms Nyanjige Ngambeki of the Mwanza Urban Water Supply and Sanitation Authority said the platform had transformed operations. “NBC Connect has significantly improved our efficiency, especially in managing both domestic and international transactions,” she said.
Her views were echoed by Rajab Kinande, Regional Manager of the Public Service Social Security Fund in the Lake Zone, who lauded the bank for making institutional banking more convenient and secure.
With its renewed focus on key industries, NBC aims to reinforce its position as a financial partner to businesses across the Lake Zone and beyond.
