Dar es Salaam. Nordic countries have launched a high-level dialogue with Tanzania aimed at strengthening private investment and accelerating energy sector reforms.

The initiative, led by the embassies of Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden, forms part of Nordic Week, which runs from May 25 to 29 under the theme “Green and Digital Transitions for a Sustainable Future.”

According to a statement from the Embassy of Finland, the events will underscore collaboration, innovation, and sustainability across several regions in the country.

The programme features conferences, workshops, exhibitions, cultural performances, and public events designed to deepen Nordic-Tanzanian partnerships.

The engagements are part of a wider effort by the Nordic Council of Ministers to support the pillars of its Vision 2030: a green, competitive, and sustainable Nordic region.

“The events are designed to promote a modern, inclusive, and action-oriented image of the Nordic region while strengthening relations with Tanzania,” the statement reads in part.

In the area of agriculture, Nordic Ambassadors are expected to visit institutions in Morogoro, including the Tanzania Tree Seed Agency, Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA), and the Sokoine University Graduate Entrepreneurs Cooperative (SUGECO). The engagements will focus on sustainable food systems, student exchanges, and the promotion of climate-smart farming practices.

A separate workshop will bring together government agencies, tech start-ups, and Nordic experts to promote digital entrepreneurship and inclusive innovation.

On matters related to the green society and blue economy, a dedicated panel will discuss strategies for reducing marine litter and advancing sustainable coastal entrepreneurship.

The Nordic Week is expected to contribute to Tanzania’s ambition to attract more investment and foster a sustainable, digitally driven energy sector.
