Prime Minister commends TADB for transforming agriculture in Tanzania

Dodoma. Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa has commended the Tanzania Agricultural Development Bank (TADB) for bringing significant transformation to the country’s agricultural sector.

Speaking on Sunday August 3, 2025, shortly after visiting the pavilion of the main sponsor of the International Agricultural Exhibition (Nane Nane) which is TADB, Mr Majaliwa expressed his appreciation for the bank’s role in advancing agriculture and livestock production.

“I commend TADB for the excellent work you are doing to promote the development of the agriculture and livestock sectors, which form the backbone of our nation and employ over 65 percent of Tanzanians,” he emphasized.

Representing TADB’s Managing Director, the Director of Planning, Advisory and Institutional Relations, Mr Waziri Mkani, briefed the Prime Minister on the bank’s achievements as it approaches the climax of its 10th anniversary celebrations since its establishment in 2015.

According to Mkani, the bank has grown from a small-scale financial institution to a major player in providing agricultural financing nationwide.

“The bank started with a capital of Sh60 billion, but today it has disbursed loans worth Sh1.129 trillion — a remarkable achievement made possible by the commitment of the government, which has invested in the agriculture and livestock sectors to empower farmers who previously lacked access to affordable loans,” Mkani said.
