QNET hails Tanzania for action against fraudulent schemes

Dar es Salaam. A global direct-selling company, QNET, has commended the Tanzanian government for taking decisive action against fraudulent operations falsely claiming affiliation with the company.

This commendation comes following the recent arrest of 50 youths in the Tanga Region linked to an alleged fraudulent online business.

The suspects were detained after being found in overcrowded living conditions, where they were pushed into the business after being promised a Sh450,000 salary.

However, the company’s regional general manager for sub-Saharan Africa, Mr Biram Fall, declined the company’s involvement in the unveiled illicit activities.

He said the company is an e-commerce-based direct-selling business, offering a wide range of health, wellness, and lifestyle products to customers around the world.

“As a member of the Direct Selling Association (DSA) in multiple countries, the company adheres to globally recognised codes of ethics, prioritising consumer protection. The company markets its products solely through official channels and accredited representatives,” he said.

Commending actions taken by Tanga regional authorities, Mr Fall reiterated the company’s commitment to fully cooperate with law enforcement agencies across the world to safeguard its reputation and the interests of customers.

“We acknowledge that isolated incidents could cause public confusion. Therefore, we urge the public to distinguish between our legitimate business and fraudulent merchandise,” he said.

He affirmed the company's commitment to delivering high-quality products and services ethically, noting that the direct selling industry continues to grow globally, providing self-employment opportunities to millions.

Furthermore, he stressed the importance of due diligence and consumer awareness to curb activities that undermine the sector's credibility.

“As investigations into the case continue, the company’s priority remains reinforcing its principles of transparency and accountability, ensuring customers enjoy its wellness products without compromising on quality or ethics,” he said.

He noted that with a global footprint spanning over 100 countries, the company serves its customers through an extensive e-commerce platform dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of integrity.
