Tech firm launches learning platform to bridge skills gap

Dar es Salaam. Tanzania tech firm SmartLab has launched a learning program to address the growing need for specialised education and training catering to learners, corporates, start-ups, and small, and middle enterprises.
The programme was launched during the Founder 2 Founders event on Friday, July 19, 2024, here in the city.
Conducted under the theme 'The Future of Work: Upskilling and Reskilling for Digital Success' it brought together Startup Founders, innovators, entrepreneurs, and Learners to discuss the future of work and the essential role of upskilling in navigating today’s digital landscape.
Speaking during the launch SmartLab’s Operations manager Mr Jean-Marie Bwemo, emphasised that the platform aims to solve the issue of inadequate skills development.
“Our platform exists to bridge the skills gap and empower individuals and organisations to excel in an evolving job market,” he said.
To bridge the gap between academia and industry, SmartLab Learning partnered with different knowledge partners to offer specialised courses and workshops, equipping learners with the necessary practical skills and industry exposure.
According to SmartLab this learning platform was launched with the approach targeting corporates, Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), and university learners.
“Each programme is tailored to meet its audience's needs and challenges. These programmes are delivered by industry experts and designed to align with each company's business objectives,” the company noted in a statement.
Recognising individuals' unique challenges, the initiative is developed accessible and affordable training solutions focused on practical skills and immediate business impact.
The programme embraces blended learning methodologies, including online courses, in-person workshops, hands-on projects, and mentorship opportunities.
