Villagers in panic as crocodile kills woman

Sengerema. Panic has gripped residents of Kasomeko Village, Katunguru Ward in Sengerema District after fellow villager was killed by a crocodile.

Pendo Potipoti, 46, met her death on Monday while fetching water along the shores of Lake Vitoria.

A witness told The Citizen that the deceased had finished taking shower and as she was fetching water for domestic use, there emerged a crocodile that attacked her.

Kasomeko Village chairman Faida Japan said that the remainsof the deceased were recovered.

The deceased, according to Mr Japan, is survived by ten children and a husband.

However, Sengerema District Commissioner Emmanuel Kipole urged residents to be careful from the killer reptiles.

“I urge everyone here to be extra ordinary keen, this is not the first case that we are witnessing here,” the DC said.
