Monduli. Chadema candidate for Monduli constituency, Mr Julius Kalanga has emerged winner against CCM’s Namelok Sokoine.
Mr Kalanga won with a total of 35,025 votes against Ms Sokoine who got 25,925 votes. Chadema is expected to lead Monduli District council after getting 13 councilors out of 20 in the area.
CCM, which has been leading the council since independence has managed to retain seven seats.
Announcing the results, the constituency returning officer, Mr Ephraim Ole Nguyeine said Mr Kalanga emerged winner against other candidates from CCM and ACT-Wazalendo.
He said at least 80,282 registered for voting but only 62,101 managed to vote last Sunday.
Among the wards in which chadema candidates emerged winners include Monduli urban, Monduli Juu and Engutoto. Others are Naalarami, Moita, Meserani, Makuyuni, Mto wa mbu, Migungani, Majengo, Loksale, Lepurko and Mswakini
