The two teams have so far met three times in the Premier League, with Simba winning all matches.
Records show that in the first match played on September 6, 2020, Simba won 2-1 away before recording a 4-0 victory at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium on December 30, 2020.
In the first round of this season’s league, Simba won 1-0 at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium on November 12, 2022.
The Msimbazi Street heavyweights will likely be out to grab victory to continue chasing the top position, which is now under their traditional rivals Young Africans (Yanga) who have so far collected 65 points from 24 matches.
Simba are placed second with 57 points from 24 matches. Ihefu FC are placed in sixth with 33 points from 25 matches, and the victory will outplace Geita Gold FC, who are placed in fifth with 34 points from 25 matches.
Speaking ahead of the match, Ihefu FC head coach Zubery Katwila said they are targeting revenge against Simba in the match. Katwila stressed that his players were psyched up to face the former champions in the duel. “We know that it is not going to be a walk in the park. Simba have good players, but my players are determined to win the match. We have the best players who managed to record victories in most of the big guns teams,” said Katwila.
Simba’s head coach, Roberto Oliveira Gonçalves do Carmo alias Robertinho, exuded confidence that his team would shine and continue to chase the top spot. The Brazilian said the team is ready to fight for the best results in every match with a view to successfully winning the title.
