Dar es Salaam. Football giants in the country, Simba SC, today meet Tembo FC of Tabora in the Azam Federation Cup encounter at the Azam Complex in Dar es Salaam.

This will be the first official competition match for Simba since they competed in the Mainland Tanzania Premier League match against Kinondoni Municipal Council (KMC) held at the same venue on December 24 last year.

The match is expected to be tough as each team will be targeting victory in order to qualify for the top 32 in the knockout stage.

Simba head coach Abdelhak Benchikha said they are not underestimating any team in the Azam Federation Cup fixtures and their target is to win their matches.

Benchikha said Tembo FC, who feature in the tournament for the first time, have reached the stage by merits and urged his players to show their commitment in the duel and eliminate their opponents.

He explained that his players are in high morale and have promised to do their best by eliminating the Tabora-based team. “We are well aware that gaining control of Tembo will not be easy as they are also target victory.

“We expect to face a strong opposition and we need to play with caution. All my players are in good shape and ready for the match,” he said.

Tembo FC head coach Ramadhan Kilobi said they have prepared well and his players are ready to face Simba’s challenge. Kilobi said his players are in high morale ahead of today’s encounter.

“It is a knockout match in which we will have to play with determination. We are facing a very tough team indeed, but our target is to emerge victorious,” said Kilobi.

He said they are also going to play with caution since they will also be searching for victory in order to sail through.
