Dar es Salaam. Goalkeeper Ali “Barthez” Mustafa is among 15 players whose future remains uncertain as they wait to discover if Yanga will offer them new deals on their current contracts, which expire mid next year.

Others are Congolese defenders Mbuyu Twite, Juma Abdul, David Luhende, Nadir Haroub, Ibrahim Job, Kelvin Yondani and midfielder Simon Msuva, The Citizen on Saturday has learnt.

As there are only six months remaining on their respective contracts, the Mainland champions’ options are to listen to offers for them, reliable sources revealed yesterday.

“Yanga leadership has told them that it will not prolong their contracts. It is ready to listen to offers for them,” a source within the club said.

The source, who pleaded for anonymity, said midfielders Athuman Idd, Frank Domayo, Simon Msuva, Salum Telela, Nizar Khalfan as well as strikers Said Bahanuzi, Didier Kavumbagu and Jerry Tegete may also not feature for Yanga next season. The source said that Job and Bahanuzi could join JKT Ruvu on loan if they fail to impress the club’s technical bench during the second round of the Vodacom Premier League, which is expected to kick off early next year.

Bahanuzi was not impressive in the first round of the league, and he has lost his place in the Jangwani Street team’s first eleven.

“Bahanuzi has lost his scoring touch as those who saw him in action during the first round can attest,” said the source. “When he joined Yanga from Mtibwa Sugar a few years ago, he was a striker of his own class.

“It came as no surprise when he emerged the top scorer during the East and Central Africa Club Championship, but he is now far from impressive.

“The leadership feels it could be better to release him, and he will likely join JKT Ruvu,” the source said.

When contacted for comment, Ruvu JKT head coach Mbwana Makata confirmed that the player has been on the army team’s radar since early this month.

Yanga technical director Patric Nagi also said that Bahanuzi was among players could part ways with the club before the second round of the top flight starts.
