Dar es Salaam. National Housing Corporation (NHC) director general Nehemiah Mchechu has been suspended to pave the way for investigations.

A statement by Information Services director Hassan Abbasi, quotes the minister for Lands, Housing and Human Settlements Development, Mr William Lukuvi, as also having directed the NHC board of directors to suspend the head of regional operations and administration, Mr Raymond Mndolwa.

In the December 16 statement, Mr Lukuvi said section F. 35 (1) of Public Services Act empowered him to do so.

On Wednesday, during the launch of NHC’s Iyumbu housing project in Dodoma, President John Magufuli rebuked Mr Mchechu for allege misuse of the office and poor financial management.

Dr Magufuli was responding to Mr Mchechu’s plea for the government to permit NHC to apply for a loan from commercial banks so that to accomplish its projects in Dar es Salaam.

Mr Mchechu joined NHC in 2010.
