  • Prime Minister Pinda says the government must look into solving infrastructural issues relating to transport and sewarage

Dar es Salaam. The government is seeking ways of solving infrastructural matters before Kigamboni area is developed into a fully fledged modern city.

Prime Minister Mizengo Pinda said that the central government must look into solving such infrastructural issues relating to transport and sewarage instead of leaving them to Temeke Municipality alone.

Premier Pinda said once Kigamboni projects, especially those carried by the National Social Security Fund (NSSF)will be completed next year, they will bring in the area huge economic and social changes.

Mr Pinda was summing up his one-day tour of the three major NSSF modern city housing scheme projects at Dege Eco Village in Kigamboni on Saturday. “Once this area is competed ---it will have a big population which will need more changes in terms of infrastructure,” said Mr Pinda. Some of the infrastructural matters that have manifested in the project include delays of construction of flyovers which will ease congestion once Kigamboni Bridge starts operating, roads connecting Kurasini and Kigamboni and a one kilometre road that will connect Mtoni Kijichi with Mbagala, according to Dr Ramadhani Dau, NSSF director general.  Others are drainage systems at both Mtoni Kijichi Affordable Houses and Dege Eco Village projects where NSSF has been forced to drill water wells to curb the challenge at the moment. Mr Pinda said the Dar es Salaam Water and Sewerage Authority (Dawasa) needs to follow up and put some water infrastructure at the site to enable residents to enjoy water services.
