Dar es Salaam. Young Africans will get the chance of using Congolese striker Heritier Makambo in the next African Confederation Cup encounter against USM Alger of Algeria.

Young Africans will play USM Alger on August 19 at the National Stadium while Gor Mahia will host Rayon Sport of Rwanda at Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani in the same group.

Makambo was refused clearance to feature for Yanga due to failure of the club to submit his international transfer certificate on time to CAF.

Two players, Deus Kaseke who rejoined the club from Singida United and Matheo Anthony, were granted clearance by CAF and featured in the encounter against Gor Mahia at the National Stadium whereby the Jangwani Street boys lost 3-2.

Speaking with The Citizen On Sunday, Young Africans secretary general Omari Kaya said they have already submitted all documents to CAF headquarters and are waiting for a solution within the next week.

Kaya said they had communicated with CAF and got assurances that the Makambo issue would be solved before the encounter.

“It will be an international test for Makambo who joined the team this season; he did not feature in previous matches due to a glitch in procedures, but now we have done it,” said Kaya.

He explained that Makambo will also feature in the opening league matches, following the completion of local league procedures. Young Africans will open the Mainland Tanzania Premier League on August 23 against Mtibwa Sugar at the Jamhuri Stadium in Morogoro Region.

Young Africans is placed bottom in Group D with only one point after playing four matches. Meanwhile: the Jangwani Street boys will today (Sunday) play First Division team Mawenzi Market in a special build up match at the Jamhuri Stadium. Kaya said apart from being a build-up for his players, the match is also part of farewell for long-serving captain Nadir “Cannavaro” Haroub.

Haroub who served Young Africans for more than 12 years has retired and the club leadership has promoted him as the team manager.

He said various entertainment activities will spice up the occasion at the Jamhuri Stadium from 2pm. He said similar matches would be played at the National Stadium and other Mainland regions.
