Tanga: Tanga harbour will handle more cargo.

Harbour master Percival Salama said here at the weekend that TSN Company would be importing 4,000 tonnes of heavy oil and 10,000 tonnes of sulphur every month through the port.

The aim is to turn around the harbour’s fortunes, according to the official.

The harbour will also handle Tanga-based GBP’s refined oil destined for Zanzibar.

According to Salama, the harbour has lost several customers who feel costs have been rising.

However, efforts are being made to open the Tanga-Arusha railway line for the harbour to serve more customers and increase the harbour’s revenue.
