In February this year, the Dar es Salaam regional commissioner office will issue an official statement detailing how and when business owners would be allowed to operate 24 hours.
Dar es Salaam. The Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner Paul Makonda said on Tuesday January 8 that before February this year, his office would provide an official declaration to allow businesses to operate for 24 hours.
Makonda said at a press conference in Dar es Salaam that his office is yet to meet with the Dar es Salaam business community to discuss the terms before allowing them to operate business at night.
"Before we allow business owners a 24 hour operation there are issues that need to be worked on, such as installation of security rights and cameras all over the city,” he said.
He also said the city officials are now working on renovating Coco beach, and a total of Sh11.9 billion has been requested from the central government.
Makonda said Coco beach will be a starting point to all the beaches in the city, making it more attractive for tourism and business activities.
He added that, "Coco beach will be renovated and built with three class levels, affordable for lower income earners, medium and for the higher income earners".
