Dar es Salaam. Residents of Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar will face power outage due to maintenance activities of three power generation machines at Ubungo II and Songas stations.

The exercise will go together with the installation of a 300 MVA transformer at Ubungo power generation station to increase power supply capacity in order to meet increased demand.

A public notice issued on Saturday, February 16, 2019, by the Tanzania Electric Supply Company Ltd (Tanesco) communications unit says the maintenance of the plants will be completed in June.

Furthermore, the national power utility assured residents in the aforementioned areas of availability of power, but disclosed that there will be minor power cuts.

“Ubungo II and Songas machines have been connected to 132 kilovolt system, which supplies electricity to Dar es Salaam, Coast Region and Zanzibar,” reads another part of the statement.
