Dar es Salaam. Chadema national chairman Freeman Mbowe has said on Monday, October 30, that the door is open for erstwhile Singida North MP Lazaro Nyalandu to join Chadema after ditching the ruling CCM.

Explaining his decision, the former Natural Resources and Tourism minister cited CCM’s failure to supervise the government, increased incidents of human rights violation and lack of respect for the separation of powers – the legislature, executive and judiciary as main reasons.

Mr Mbowe, who doubles as the Leader of Officials Opposition in Parliament, said Chadema was read to welcome Mr Nyalandu as well as all Tanzanians who believe in the collective responsibility towards building a strong Tanzania.

“Issues raised by Mr Nyalandu are central to what the opposition has been advocating. We all must learn from his for standing up for what he believes in and doing so publicly fearing nothing,” he said.

“Those within the ruling party including MPs, RCs, DCs and the like must muster courage and do away with what irritates them by being part of the government. They should not be afraid of speaking the truth. They must stand by what they believe in,” Mr Mbowe added.

Mr Mbowe said they welcomed all regardless of alleged mistakes they are believed to have committed before as there is always room for the second chance. He added that there are never permanent friends or enemies in politics.
