Msimbazi Reds shape up as crucial clash looms

Dar es Salaam. Mainland giants Simba return home today from Algeria, where they lost 2-0 to Saoura in the Caf Champions League clash last Saturday.

Simba, who sit fourth in Group D with six points from five matches, will wind up their group stage campaign against DR Congo’s AS Vita Club at the National Stadium on Saturday.

The anxiously awaited clash will be handled by Moroccan referee, Noureddine El Jaafari, according to the Confederation of African Football (Caf).

He will be assisted by Hicham Ait Abbou and Yahya Nouali also from Morocco.

The Msimbazi Reds must beat Vita if they are to proceed to the quarter-finals of the money-spinning tournament.

The much anticipated match will kick off at 7pm.

A win for Simba, who sit fourth in Group D with six points from five games, would see them book a place in the last eight.

JS Saoura of Algeria, who beat Simba 2-0 in Algiers last weekend, top the group with eight points, one ahead of Al Ahly of Egypt and Vita.

Al Ahylt and JS Saoura will face off at the Borg El Arab Stadium in Alexandria, Egypt the same day.

As Vita Club are expected in the country on Thursday.
