Golfers shine in Mwananchi Communications -sponsored Lugalo tourney

Dar es Salaam. Forty two golfers competed in the Lugalo Breakfast Golf Community (LBGC) game held on Friday, December 7, 2018, at the Tanzania Peoples Defence Forces Lugalo Golf Club.

Among the golfers were prominent national female team players Angel Eaton, Hawa Wanyenche and Vicky Elias. Others were, Maryanne Hugo and Priscilla Karobia.

Prominent male participants were Martin W, John H, Simon Kaphale, Femin Mabachi, Joseph Tango, Mohamed Rweyemamu, Godfrey Kilenga, Foti Gwebe, Fred L, Cloudy Mtavangu, Pro Nyenza and Gilman K.

Others included Mwanyenza S, Letara M, Noel M, Torence M, Amanzi Mandengule, Boniface Nyiti,  Ali Mufuruki, Tairo J, Michael Kaire, Magile E, Chasosa I, Alex N, Balozi Kalino, Zacharia Edward, Kajuna M, Prof Nyirabu, Francis Ekeng, Mwinuka F, Japhet M,  Magige W, Samwel M and  Prosper Emmanuel.

The golfers competed in the 18-hole stroke play in the Mwananchi Communications Limited sponsored event. MCL is the publisher of The Citizen, Mwananchi and Mwanaspoti newspapers.

The golfers congratulated MCL for the initiative to support the development of the game in the country.

 “We appreciate Mwananchi Communications Limited for sponsoring this event. The gesture should inspired other companies to do the same for the sake of nurturing more talent in golf,” said Gofrrey Kilenga, The group league master.

MCL’s marketing manager Ms Sarah Munema said the media company decided to sponsor the tourney as part of its social responsibility. “We also want to give opportunity to our clients to socialize,” said Ms Munema.

Golfers Mohamed Rweyemamu beat Foti Gwebe in the male finals while Angel Eaton won in the female category. 

 Teams that took part included MMs, Laki si Pesa, Lugalo Young Golfers and Wazee Poa.
