Dar es Salaam. The National U-17 soccer team, Serengeti Boys will feature in a special tournament to be held in Antalya, Turkey. The tournament has been organized by both the African Football governing body (Caf) and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA).

The tournament will also feature U-17 teams from Angola, Morocco, Cameroon, Uganda, Nigeria, Senegal and Guinea. Europe will field four teams to be named later. The tournament has been scheduled to start from February 22 to March 2.

The competition has been organized as part of gearing for the teams ahead of the African Youths Championships to be held in Dar es Salaam from April 14 to 28 featuring eight teams. Recently, Serengeti Boys won African Union Sports Council (AUSC) Region five Games after a tense 6-5 penalties victory against Angola.

Serengeti Boys under head coach Oscar Mirambo have so far shown good improvement in various international competitions. Serengeti Boys are also Cecafa’s U-17 champions. “We will use the tournament to test our players ahead of the African Youths Championships, it will be exactly two months before the tournament,” said Mirambo.
