REA gets new board chairman

  • President John Magufuli has appointed Michael Pius Nyagoga the new chairman of the board of directors of the Rural Energy Agency (REA).

Dar es Salaam. President John Magufuli has appointed Michael Pius Nyagoga the new chairman of the board of directors of the Rural Energy Agency (REA).

Mr Nyagoga was the deputy commissioner for Policy in the department of Finance Development, in the ministry of Finance and Planning.

He will take lead in the new board of directors after the existed being disbanded by the minister for energy Dr Medard Kalemani on November 12, 2018.

The minister explained the disband was over the poor performance and failure of the agency to stimulate the access to modern energy services in rural areas of Tanzania.

The president also appointed Dr Lucas Luhende Kija to be the chairman of the National advisory council for people with disabilities.

Prior to this appointment Dr Kija was serving as a lecturer at the Dar es Salaam University College of Education (DUCE).

The statement by Chief Secretary, Ambassador John Kijazi, revealed that the appointment took effect from February 13, 2019.
