Young entrepreneurs to benefit from new Veta welding machine

Dar es Salaam. Mara Vocation Training Centre has designed a cheap welding machine that use salt and water to make it operate and it target youth entrepreneurs.

According to innovator Elly Maduhu, from Vocational Education and Training Authority (Veta), the graduates can make their own machine by using the materials that are easily found in scrap metals, and other equipment used and cast of vehicles battery.

“This idea came to my mind this year, in May. I decided to put it to practice. My target is to help students who are studying welding to produce this machine at affordable price while waiting to buy the big one,” he said

He told The Citizen yesterday during the ongoing 42nd Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF) that normally the welding machine is sold around Sh500, 000 and above, but the new this one can spend only Sh50,000 to make it.

“You can see amount of money that can be saved if opt for this simple technology, “ he said.
