Airtel, Jubilee partner for health insurance at Sh300 per month

Representatives from Airtel, Jubilee Health Insurance, and Axieva officially introducing the Afya Bima Health Insurance service to residents of Mwanza region during an event held at the Buzuruga bus station grounds in Mwanza.

What you need to know:

  • "Afya Bima understands the realities of Tanzanians, especially in rural areas. This is truly accessible healthcare for all,"

Mwanza. Tanzanians can now breathe easier with the arrival of Afya Bima, a revolutionary health insurance service offered through Airtel Money in collaboration with Jubilee Health Insurance and Axieva.

The easy-to-use and surprisingly affordable option removes barriers to healthcare, empowering individuals and families to save for their well-being.

"Afya Bima makes joining health insurance simple," declared Hellen Lyimo, Airtel Money's service manager.

"There is no need for tedious paperwork or visits to service centers. With just your mobile phone and Airtel Money, you can choose the perfect plan for your needs, whether at home or on the go."

Jubilee Health Insurance joined forces with Airtel Money and Axieva to fulfil President Samia Suluhu Hassan's vision of "Health Insurance for All."

As Mr. Wilbert Mwairo, the head of retail and branch network at Jubilee, emphasises, "This collaboration allows us to reach millions more Tanzanians, especially those with lower incomes, through Airtel's extensive network."

Afya Bima offers three flexible plans starting at just Sh300 per month or Sh3500 per year, making it accessible to even the most budget-conscious individuals.

This affordability, coupled with the ease of enrollment via Airtel Money, has garnered widespread praise.

"Afya Bima is a game-changer," expressed Daudi Joseph, a Mwanza resident. "Other health insurance options often have complex conditions and high costs, making them out of reach for many like us."

Mussa Rajabu, another resident, echoed these sentiments, adding, "Afya Bima understands the realities of Tanzanians, especially in rural areas. This is truly accessible healthcare for all."

While Afya Bima presents a significant step forward, Mr. Mwairo highlighted a crucial area for further improvement: "Regulating healthcare costs in hospitals is critical to reducing overall health insurance costs. Lower medical expenses will ultimately benefit all Tanzanians."
