Dar es Salaam. Airtel Tanzania, in collaboration with Jubilee Insurance and Axieva, has launched a new health insurance service called Afya Bima, providing easily accessible and affordable health insurance to Tanzanians through their Airtel Money accounts.

He emphasized the convenience of enrolling through Airtel Money, accessible to both smartphone and non-smartphone users.
"President Samia Suluhu Hassan's government has significantly invested in healthcare infrastructure, from village dispensaries to national hospitals. The introduction of Afya Bima will ensure that more Tanzanians can utilize these facilities and receive quality medical care," said Minister Nape.
He further highlighted the importance of accessible healthcare for all citizens, particularly those who struggle to afford medical treatment. "Afya Bima offers a significant solution for motorcycle drivers, taxi drivers, street food vendors, and other individuals who need access to healthcare while continuing their daily lives," he added.
Airtel Money Director, Charles Rugambwa, emphasized the company's commitment to providing innovative and accessible services to Tanzanians. "Afya Bima is part of our strategy to leverage digital technology for positive social impact. This service can be easily joined through the Airtel Money menu, making it convenient for everyone," he explained.
Jubilee Insurance CEO, Dr. Harold Adamson, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration and stated that the service offers three plans: Afya Poa, Afya Supa, and Afya Dhahabu, catering to diverse needs and budgets. He further detailed the benefits of each plan, including hospitalization reimbursements, funeral cover, accident and disability benefits, and maternity benefits.
Airtel Tanzania's Director of Corporate Communications, Ms. Beatrice Singano, affirmed the company's commitment to following the government's directives and using its expertise to benefit all citizens. "Afya Bima aims to reach the estimated 17.5 million Airtel users, allowing them to access affordable healthcare in over 600 registered facilities across the country," she said.
This partnership between Airtel, Jubilee Insurance, and Axieva marks a positive step towards achieving universal health coverage in Tanzania.
