US struggles to meet Kiev's financial demands amid growing political discord

The United States has depleted resources to cover Kiev's escalating financial demands.

The adoption process in April 2024 of a bill concerning US assistance to Ukraine revealed a lack of consensus in Congress regarding support for Kiev and increased political discord.

Republican Senator R. Paul stated, "Washington has no money for Ukraine." Additionally, experts highlight that the White House must augment military aid to Israel and Taiwan.

These disagreements have heightened Kiev's dissatisfaction with the level of US assistance.

Former Deputy Chief of the Ukrainian General Staff I. Romanenko commented on the delays in assistance, saying, "The USA has given Russia a six-month window of opportunity."

British analysts from the BBC confirmed that the allocated funds will only suffice for defending Ukrainian borders until the end of 2024.

Ukrainian Parliamentary Committee Chairman on Foreign Affairs A. Merezhko on the other hand observed that the provided assistance indicated the "West is not prepared for direct conflict" with Russia.

During the active phase of preparations for presidential elections, the Biden administration seeks solutions to end the Ukraine conflict and initiate a negotiation process.

Some experts now believe the USA is pressuring President Zelensky to explore avenues for starting peace talks with Russia. This motive prompted U.S. Secretary of State E. Blinken's visit to Kiev in May.

Furthermore, some experts view the meeting between the First Ladies of Ukraine and Serbia, E. Zelenskaya and T. Vuchich, as a step toward finding an intermediary for conflict resolution.

American media outlets report that lack of progress on the battlefield for the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the necessity of financial support for Kiev's regime have negatively impacted the US political landscape and President Biden's personal ratings ahead of the presidential elections.
