Dar es Salaam. CCM candidate Omari Abdallah Kigoda was declared winner of the Handeni parliamentary seat after collecting a total of 10, 315 votes equivalent to 75.89 per cent.

Mr Haule said out of 38,610 registered voters, only 13, 805 voters -- equivalent to 35.75 per cent – came forth on polling day.
He said a total of 24, 805 voters equivalent to 64.25 per cent of all registered voters did not turn up and that 214 equivalent to 1.55 per cent of all 13, 805 votes were rejected.
Party’s victory means, Mr Kigoda has taken over the seat that was previously occupied by his father, Dr Abdallah Kigoda. The election was postponed in Handeni after Dr Kigoda died in October at a hospital in India where he had been referred to for further treatment.
Kigoda Senior had been nominated by his party to defend the seat in the constituency, but died before Election Day, making it necessary for the National Electoral Commission to push back the election date.
