Dodoma. Farmers across Tanzania’s Central Zone are benefiting from digital financial services offered by Mixx by Yas through cooperative societies, enabling them to receive crop payments faster and more securely while being rewarded for their continued use of digital financial services.
Speaking during the Vuna na Mixx event, held on the sidelines of the Nane Nane Agricultural Exhibitions in Dodoma, Tanzania Cooperative Development Commission (TCDC) Executive Director Dr Benson Ndiege said the partnership between TCDC and Mixx continues to transform the way farmers selling their produce through the Warehouse Receipt System receive payments.
He said the shift to digital payments has addressed long-standing challenges associated with cash transactions, including payment delays and the risk of losing money, while giving farmers greater confidence that their earnings will reach them safely and on time.
“When farmers receive their payments on time, they are motivated to increase production. We have seen significant improvements within the cooperative system, as well as increased crop production, supported by the continued improvement of these services,” Dr Ndiege said.

He encouraged farmers already benefiting from the system to become ambassadors for digital financial services within their communities and encourage more farmers to embrace digital payments.
Dr Ndiege also commended cooperative officers and leaders of Agricultural Marketing Cooperative Societies (AMCOS) for their continued efforts to educate farmers on the effective use of digital financial services.
On his part, Mixx's Central Zone Commercial Manager, Charles Gasper said, the company would continue working closely with the government and cooperative societies to expand farmers’ access to safe, convenient and efficient financial services.
During the event, Mixx rewarded more than 25 farmers from the Central Zone who have been actively using its services through their cooperative societies. The prizes included motorcycles, a three-wheel cargo vehicle and bicycles and mobile phones in recognition of farmers who have embraced digital financial services in their agricultural activities.
“We believe that when we empower a farmer, the benefits extend beyond the individual to their family, community and ultimately the national economy. We will therefore continue working with stakeholders across the agricultural sector to ensure more farmers benefit from Mixx services,” Mr Gasper said.
The Vuna na Mixx initiative is part of Mixx’s broader efforts to deepen financial inclusion among farmers by working with cooperatives to make agricultural payments safer, faster and more accessible.
