Dar es Salaam RC seeks Sh1.7 billion for new Ubungo District Hospital

The office of the Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner is seeking Sh1.7billion for the construction Ubungo District hospital.

Dar es Salaam. The Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner Mr Paul Makonda has said his office is seeking Sh1.7billion for the construction of Ubungo District hospital.

Mr Makonda said on Monday October 6, when he visited some ongoing infrastructure projects including the Sinza Makaburini road, Ubungo Interchange, Kimara Health Center and Ubungo Municipal Council premises at Kimbamba.

"Ubungo has the highest number of population, out of five districts of Dar es Salaam, so there is a need for a new hospital that will reduce congestions in other districts hospitals," he said.

Currently, only three out of five districts of Dar es Salaam, these are,  Ilala, Kinondoni and Temeke have their own district hospitals, the new districts of Kigamboni and Ubungo have to make do with health centres.
