The police have got your back, according to the assistant police chief for Arusha, Yusufu Ilembo.

Arusha. If you are a resident of Arusha, you shouldn’t be worried about any potential disruptions over the next few days.

The police have got your back, according to the assistant police chief for Arusha, Yusufu Ilembo.

Presently, there is a heavy police presence across the region. Assistance chief Ilembo says they are there to maintain peace and security.

Over the past few days, heavily armed police contingents could be seen patrolling parts of Arusha.

Similar shows of force have been observed in other regions across Tanzania as UK and US embassies warn their citizens of “possible Union Day protests.”

“The police have an obligation to ensure the country is secure and peaceful” said Mr Ilembo.

“Therefore, residents shouldn’t be worried when they see the police out in the streets.”
