Dar es Salaam. Exim Bank Tanzania has teamed up with the Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute (JKCI) to provide comprehensive cardiovascular screenings for its staff, marking another milestone in their long-standing partnership.
The one-day exercise, held at Exim Tower in Dar es Salaam, formed part of JKCI’s 10th anniversary celebrations and aimed to raise awareness on heart health while enabling early detection of non-communicable diseases.
Staff underwent blood pressure and Body Mass Index (BMI) checks, personalised nutrition counselling, and ECHO screenings. Health education sessions also focused on lifestyle changes to prevent cardiovascular diseases, which are on the rise in Tanzania and globally.
Exim Bank’s Head of Marketing and Communications, Stanley Kafu, said the initiative was part of the bank’s broader commitment to health and community well-being.
“Our investment in the health of our staff and the wider public is not a one-time initiative; it is a core principle of our commitment,” Kafu said. “Our partnership with JKCI has helped promote heart health in Tanzania and even extend life-saving care to other countries, including Comoros.”
The collaboration between the two institutions has been instrumental in promoting Tanzania’s medical capabilities beyond its borders. In November 2024, the bank’s regional network, particularly its branch presence in Comoros, enabled JKCI to organise medical camps there — providing essential cardiac care and encouraging patients to seek advanced treatment in Tanzania.
JKCI representative Dr. Tulizo Shem said partnerships like this are vital in expanding access to healthcare.
“On our 10th anniversary of saving lives, we are profoundly grateful for the unwavering support of partners like Exim Bank,” he said. “Their support during our Comoros medical camp not only provided life-saving care but also helped boost medical tourism for Tanzania.”
Exim Bank has been a long-standing supporter of JKCI, backing its efforts to enhance cardiac care services and foster medical tourism in East Africa. The latest workplace wellness initiative reflects a shared goal — building a healthier, more productive workforce while promoting community health nationwide.
