Kigoma Urban MP Zitto Kabwe’s house on Kibingo Street, Mwandiga Ward in Kigoma town, caught fire on Saturday.

Mr Zitto is also opposition ACT-Wazalendo party leader.

Zitto’s assistant Muspapha Nyembo confirmed but clarified that the burnt house was not the one that the lawmaker was living in.

“It is in the same compound as his new house,” Mr Nyembo said adding that the cause of fire was yet to be established.

The burnt house was built in 2005 when Mr Zitto was vying for a seat in Parliament for the first time on Chadema’s ticket for Kigoma North Constituency.
