Over 80,000 students to sit form six exams

Teachers doing their Cerificate and Diploma course will also start their exams tomorrow. 

Dar es Salaam. A total of 87,643 form six students will start their national examinations tomorrow, May 7.

The National Examination Council of Tanzania (Necta) executive secretary, Dr Charles Msonde disclosed this when speaking with reporters today.

He said that at least 77,222 of them are school candidates and the rest are private candidates.

Dr Msonde said the examinations will go simultaneously with those of teachers, which will take place throughout the country.

"We expect at least 7,422 teachers to sit their certificate and diploma examinations," he said.

Explaining further, he said those sitting teaching examinations comprise 4,931 men and 2,491 women.

"The number of those sitting certificate examinations stands at 5,234 whereby 3,204 are men and 2,030 are women. For diploma courses, 2,188 will take their exams," he said.

According to him, it was all systems go after finalizing distribution of all needed materials including across the country.

He urged all students, teachers as well as the public to exercise integrity during the examination period because stern measures will be taken against anybody found cheating.
