Arusha. No clue has so far been established on perpetrators of alleged gun attack at the residence of the Arumeru East (Chadema) MP, Mr Joshua Nassari over the weekend.

The Regional Police Commander (RPC), Mr Charles Mkumbo disclosed yesterday that nobody was arrested for questioning as some investigators expressed doubts over whether the legislator’s house came under real attack from outsiders.

“We are investigating on who could have been behind the shoot out. We are taking no chances to establish identities of the attackers,” he told The Citizen. The RPC disclosed that the police have taken the shotgun owned by Mr Nassari for thorough investigations, adding no cartridges had been found at the scene of the alleged shooting.

Other unconfirmed reports said some cartridges, which matched with those used in a shot gun, were found in the compound of the MP’s residence.

Mr Nassari could not be reached for comment as two of his mobile phone numbers were not reachable as were those of other key Chadema officials.

During the alleged gunfire at the residence of the outspoken opposition MP on Friday night at his Nkoanenkori village in Arumeru district, no injuries were reported. One of his dogs was shot dead with the picture going viral in the social and mainstream media. Police were notified of the incident the same night.

This is not the first time for Mr Nassari, the youthful MP for Arumeru East constituency on Chadema ticket since 2012, to find himself in a gun drama.
