Stanbic Bank named Tanzania’s best investment bank by Euromoney

Dar es Salaam. Stanbic Bank Tanzania has been named the Best Investment Bank in Tanzania at the prestigious 2025 Euromoney Awards for Excellence, cementing its position as a key player in driving national development through strategic financial solutions.

The award, announced on Friday, July 18, recognizes the bank’s growing impact on Tanzania’s economy through its role in financing large-scale projects, supporting local industries, and fostering long-term economic growth.

“This award is not about visibility. It is about the value we bring to the country,” said Manzi Rwegasira, Chief Executive of Stanbic Bank Tanzania. “We have worked with clients in both the public and private sectors to finance projects that change lives and grow the economy. This recognition is proof of the trust our clients place in us and the seriousness with which we take our role as an investment partner.”

Over the past year, Stanbic Bank has been involved in a series of high-impact transactions aimed at expanding Tanzania’s industrial base, promoting sustainability in manufacturing, and enabling long-term institutional investments. These efforts, the bank says, have led to job creation, opened export opportunities, and strengthened the country’s financial infrastructure.

According to Ester Manase Lobore, Head of Corporate and Investment Banking at Stanbic, the bank has prioritized deals with measurable impact.

“We have focused on deals that build capacity and create long-term impact,” said Lobore. “From helping clients expand production to supporting institutions that manage the country’s future savings, our goal has always been to deliver real value. This award reflects the work behind the scenes that most people do not see—but that drives growth at every level.”

The bank’s investment banking team has successfully led complex capital-raising initiatives, long-term loans, and financial advisory projects that required deep market insight and innovative structuring. These transactions have helped Tanzanian businesses build resilience, scale operations, and prepare for future financing.

Stanbic Bank has also played a vital role in connecting Tanzanian businesses to regional and global opportunities, leveraging the strength and reach of its parent company, Standard Bank Group, Africa’s largest lender by assets. Through this network, Stanbic has supported local firms with trade finance, cross-border investment, and access to international capital markets.

In addition to being named the Best Investment Bank, Stanbic also clinched the Best Bank in Tanzania for Customer Experience award. The dual recognition reflects the bank’s dual focus on delivering both economic value and exceptional service.

“These awards belong to every person we serve,” said Rwegasira. “We will continue to support growth, create solutions, and stand beside our clients as they build the future of this country.”

This latest win also contributes to a dominant showing by Standard Bank Group, which bagged 26 awards across Africa at this year’s Euromoney ceremony, including Africa’s Best Bank, Africa’s Best Investment Bank, and Africa’s Best Bank for Large Corporates.

With over 30 years of operations in Tanzania, Stanbic Bank has grown into one of the country’s most trusted financial institutions, offering services ranging from investment and business banking to personal finance and advisory.
