Serengeti. A foundation stone was laid here on Saturday January 19 for a Sunflower plant with the capacity of producing 2,200 litres of edible per day.

The event, which took place in the premises of the plant--Mossegi Sunflower Investment—was graced by the Serengeti by District Commissioner Nurdin Babu.

The investment’s Director, Mr Mwita Mossegi told MCL Digital that plans were in the final stages to install edible oil processing machines.

Mossegi, who is a retired teacher, said the factory, which is the first to be set up in the district since Tanzania’s introduction drive took off, is expected to offer 30 jobs.

He has pointed out that their investment of over Sh120 million in the factory aims at liberating sunflower farmers who had no reliable market to the extent of losing hope.
